Learn to Sail
Ever wanted to learn how to sail? Don’t want to get wet? We’ve got the answer!
We run a number of different sessions for anyone wanting to learn how to sail. From those that have never been near a sailing boat; to those wanting to sharpen their racing skills, come and learn how on Long Pond, Clapham.
Sessions
We have sessions for complete beginners (taster sessions) and offer leisure sailing to those who just want to sail during the winter months. Then, if you want to take it to the next level, why not learn how to race a sailing boat, all from the comfort of dry land.
Kids
We offer sessions to those over 6 years old and it’s a great way to get children into sailing before they are able to step into a full size boat, allowing them to develop an understanding of sailing fundamentals.
Racing
Any boats can be used on Long Pond and the club have a range of classes, from smaller training boats (dragon force 65’s) to larger more competitive boats that are raced nationally. If you intent to race competitively, we recommend joining the MYA (Model Yachting Association) which will insure and cover you and your boat, allowing you to take part in any UK racing event.
Joining the club (£30 for a 1 year membership) allows you to get on the water and start sailing in the city. Whether it’s learning the basics, just a bit of fun, or serious racing, we provide club boats to let you start sailing.
